Shobo-ji is a Shingon temple in southern Kyoto with a three-faced, thousand-armed Kannon statue and a carefully kept rock garden. Many of the garden stones were chosen for their resemblance to animals, including a rabbit and a frog.
It is a quieter temple stop than Kyoto's headline sights, best for visitors already exploring the city's southern and western outskirts.
