Ryozen History Museum is a small Higashiyama museum focused on the turbulent years around the end of the shogunate and the beginning of the Meiji era. Its displays are most useful for visitors already interested in Kyoto's role in late Edo-period politics and the people who pushed Japan toward modern statehood.
