Kyoto Brewing Company was founded in 2015 by a team of international brewers and has become one of the more respected craft operations in western Japan. The taproom at the brewery in the Nijo district offers 15 rotating taps, including experimental batches and seasonal beers not available in bottles. The beers frequently incorporate Japanese ingredients -- yuzu, Kyoto green tea, miso -- without gimmick.
The taproom is open Thursday to Sunday from 5 pm. The Saison and Ichigo Ichie session IPA are the most consistent year-round offerings. The brewery welcomes walk-ins and no reservation is needed.
