Musashi is a kaiten (conveyor-belt) sushi restaurant that has fed Kyoto shoppers and students for decades from its Sanjo location. The selection covers standard Edo-mae sushi alongside Kyoto-influenced items -- mackerel pressed sushi, salmon roe -- and the plates change frequently. Prices are low, the queue moves fast, and the atmosphere is cheerfully local.
There are several branches in Kyoto; the Sanjo location near Pontocho is the most central. Expect a short wait at peak lunch hours.
