Junsei occupies a converted sub-temple compound immediately below the Nanzenji aqueduct, with garden seating around a traditional koi pond. The house speciality is yudofu, served in a cedar pot with kombu broth: fresh tofu simmered at the table and eaten with ponzu, green onion, and dashi. The full course adds tempura and seasonal small dishes.
The location -- inside the Nanzenji temple complex -- means the setting is unusually peaceful for a busy restaurant. Lunch reservations are recommended during autumn foliage season; walk-ins are possible outside peak periods.
